James Charles was amongst the many famous faces on the People’s Choice Awards 2024 ‘green carpet,’ but some fans were confused as to why the beauty influencer was invited.
The award show recognizes people in entertainment, voted online by the general public and fans, but it looked like the people weren’t happy with James Charles being invited to the show. The ‘controversial’ YouTuber has amassed over 23 million subscribers for his make-up videos and has worked with big-name celebrities including Kylie Jenner.
James Charles’ appearance ‘questioned’ at 2024 People’s Choice Awards
The 24-year-old didn’t come quietly onto the carpet, wearing a multicolor matching shirt and trousers, with portraits on them, which he covered with a black denim jacket. He put a spin on the plain black shoes with a hint of blue in the corner, but it seemed, once again, social media weren’t backing the fashion choices.
James was not nominated for an award this year however, has three awards under his belt for Beauty Influencer from 2018-2020.
With his flawless make-up and dangly earrings, the star posed for the cameras, but X, formerly known as Twitter had a lot to say on the matter.
“Oh they invited anyone,” wrote one user.
“Who let him in???” a second questioned.
Others had more to stay on the influencer’s appearance. “This outfit is horrendous but those shoes are actually offensive. I’m mad,” one said.
A fourth claimed: “He’s slowly turning into Kris Jenner.”
The star had an ‘awkward moment’ at the 2022 awards
It’s not the first time the star has ‘gone viral’ over his attendance at the People’s Choice Awards. In 2022, he encountered a very ‘awkward moment’ with Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp and actor Ryan Reynolds.
Schnapp and Reynolds looked to be in deep conversation, whilst the influencer went up to them, awkwardly standing there as they continued to talk.
He then ‘lingered awkwardly’ before saying hi to Schnapp while he’s still in conversation, who then introduced him to the Deadpool star, before walking away.
Awkward!
